Adolescent Smiles

The teen years. While we can’t make the high school social scene easier to navigate, we can create a plan that will keep your teenager’s mouth healthy despite increased pizza and Coke consumption.

During adolescence it is important to make sure that your preteen or teen is flossing and brushing properly every day. Fluoride treatments are also important during these years. We are happy to supply you with options that will best serve your teen for life.

Wisdom teeth are a common issue. They are the third molars in the back four corners of the mouth; sometimes you can have more or less than four wisdom teeth. The panoramic x-ray is the most common way to assess how they are doing. If they are impacted or stuck, prone to cavities or gum disease, or causing symptoms or likely to cause any of these in the future they should be taken out. It is best to remove wisdom teeth at a young age since
teens tend to heal faster and roots aren't fully developed.

Any piercing in the mouth can cause severe problems. During placement, piercings can cause severe bleeding,
infection or nerve damage. Jewelry can also become loose and cause major problems if swallowed or taken into the digestive tract. Jewelry from oral piercings can also cause fracture and decay of teeth. It's better to keep piercings to your ears.
